DJ to spend 48 Hours on Legion Rooftop as Fundraiser

Grande Prairie, Alberta (Canada) - When Steve Pyrcz said he wanted a unique and creative idea for a fundraiser to help raise money for needed roof repairs to the Legion, he may have gotten more than he bargained for. As part of a weekend-long fundraising event, Free FM’s JC Coutts will be camping out on the lower portion of the Legion’s roof, broadcasting live throughout the entire 48 hours. Throughout the weekend, Coutts will be unable to leave his post on the roof. To make things a little easier on the radio morning show host, he will have access to the Internet and even Netflix. The host said although he’s a little nervous, he jumped at the chance to help out the local Legion.  www.fundraising-ideas.org

Fundraiser puts its mark on Northeastern school district

Manchester, PA: The Northeastern High School cheerleaders have revived a Bobcat paw painting fundraiser to help fund the cheerleading competition teams. And they hope to wind up traveling around the community, painting Bobcat paws on driveways throughout the Northeastern School Distract. For $10 per paw, Northeastern cheerleaders will visit a resident's home to paint orange paw prints on their driveway to support Bobcat pride for Northeastern High School. The cheerleaders use a Bobcat paw template, then use orange traffic paint for the paw. The paint job lasts for a couple months. The process takes about 10-15 minutes. Money raised will help cover the cost of the district's cheerleading competition team. A cheerleader must cheer for a school sport in order to be on a cheer competition team.  www.fundraising-ideas.org

Middle School holds ‘Trashin’ Fashion Show’ fundraiser

Los Angeles, CA: Sixth, seventh and eighth students at Muir Middle School hold ‘Trashin’ Fashion Show’ fundraiser to benefit their respective classes, all with an eco-friendly frame of mind. The show featured designs made almost entirely out of recycled materials, including cardboard boxes, bottles and gardening supplies. There was a skirt made from dozens of plastic lids from disposable coffee cups, strung together like chain mail. A sleeveless top, upon closer inspection, turned out to be bubble wrap spray-painted black. One student created an entire outfit - including earrings and shoes - out of Capri Sun juice packets. Another sported a dress made out of a bag made for yard waste and a belt cut out of a cat litter box. The sole male model wore a gladiator-inspired outfit made of test sheets, pages from a dictionary and the Muir Middle School student newspaper. More than 40 students participated as designers, models and producers. Some worked in teams, or with their entire homeroom class, while others tapped their parents' sewing skills.   www.fundraising-ideas.org
