Principal Gets Pied in th Face at Fundraiser

Saline, MI — Harvest Elementary School Principal Betty Leacher got several pies to the face as part of a contest held at the school.  The assembly was the end result of the school’s Parent Teacher Association fundraiser, the Fun Run, which raised more than $20,000 this year. Students who raised $50-$99 were able to toss a plate fun of whipped cream at Leacher during the assembly. Those who raised more than $99 were able to smush it in her face. During the Fun Run, students walked, ran and danced their way outside on the school’s walking track and basketball court. The school’s music teacher, Mrs. Dana, and Ms. Collins, the physical education teacher, taught the students several dances including the Cha Cha Slide, the Macarena and the Chicken Dance and the Hokey Pokey. Senora Peplinski, the school’s Spanish teacher, had all of the students sing songs they had been working on in the school’s new Spanish program.  www.fundraising-ideas.org

Cañon City Pregnancy Center Fundraiser

Cañon City, CO - Fremont County families struggling to meet the needs of their young children and babies can rest a little easier knowing the Cañon City Pregnancy Center is there to help in tough times.  Recently, the center was surprised to learn that the community would ban together to help raise more than $6,400 in 30 days so staff and volunteers could continue to provide essentials for expectant moms, young families, single dads and even grandparents trying to feed and clothe their little ones.  Dave and Lynda Lambert of Cañon Signature Mortgage and KRLN/Star Country Radio partnered to have a 30-day fundraising campaign to benefit the center.  The radio station and Cañon Signature Mortgage also hosted a breakfast fundraiser and left donation envelopes at local businesses that still may be turned into the pregnancy center at 508 Greenwood Ave.  www.fundraising-ideas.org

High School FFA Halloween Fundraiser

Pontiac, IL -  The Pontiac Township High School FFA is taking advantage of the Halloween season with two separate fundraising events geared toward helping the needs of the community. One is an upcoming costume 5K run and 1-mile walk; the other is collecting candy for the troops on Halloween night.   On Saturday, the FFA chapter will be hosting a fundraiser called the “Pontiac FFA 5K Costume Run and 1 Mile Walk.” The event charges a $20 entry fee, which will be used in the chapter’s upcoming “Support a Family for Christmas” program. Last year, the program helped to provide presents for an anonymous family within PTHS in financial need. This year, the FFA hopes multiple families can be reached.  www.fundraising-ideas.org

Bras on Broadway Fundraiser

Fargo, ND - Bras on Broadway lit up the HoDo Thursday in Fargo, and it could hit a major fundraising milestone this year. Thursday, they auctioned off bedazzled bras at their signature event. Money raised, of course, supports the fight against breast cancer. Tickets sold out for the eighth year in a row -- but in record time this year. They are only $70,000 away from hitting the half-million mark for total money raised, and believe they will hit that milestone this year.  HoDo Owner, Karen Stoker said, "We really live in a place where people know what it means to pitch in and help make a difference. And it works because people know that they're helping their neighbors, all that money stays in this area and I think that is what makes it a big winner." Last year, Bras on Broadway raked in $134,000.  www.fundraising-ideas.org

Trivia Night Fundraiser to Restore Historic Church

Thorold, Ontario - Trivia buffs will have a chance to test their knowledge in support of Thorold’s historic Beaverdams Church at an upcoming fundraising event. A trivia night fundraiser is taking place on Saturday at Trinity United Church Hall in Thorold. Tables of eight are available, or individual participants have the option of joining another table. Tickets are $15. There will be pizza, door prizes, silent auction and cash bar. All proceeds go towards the restoration of historic Beaverdams Church.  The historically designated 1832-built Methodist Church, located on Marlatts Rd. in the historic Beaverdams area of Thorold, was purchased by the city of Thorold in 2010.  A committee, the Friends of Beaverdams Church, has since been formed to lead the fundraising efforts to restore the church so it can be toured and used for special events.  www.fundraising-ideas.org

"First Snow" Nutcracker Fundraising Event

Greenwich, CT. -- Greenwich Ballet Academy will hold its third annual Nutcracker fundraising event “First Snow,” on Nov. 9. The name was derived from the ballet academy’s first full Nutcracker performance in 2011, which incorporated the first act of the ballet including the Waltz of the Snow. “First Snow” became a Greenwich Ballet Academy tradition after a Greenwich snowstorm coincided with the event three years ago.  This year’s event will have cocktails and a dinner buffet that celebrates Russian culture as well as its impact on ballet and the Nutcracker. www.fundraising-ideas.org

Police Vs. Fire Department Soccer Game Fundraiser

Copperas Cove, TX - After working side by side to protect the city’s residents, members of Copperas Cove’s police and fire departments met Sunday afternoon to compete in a spirit of friendly competition.  Officers from both departments, as well as members of their families, participated in a charity soccer match. The match took place on fields near Copperas Cove High School, and were free to members of the public. “Both departments work with each other every day,” said Copperas Cove Police Officer William Hughes. “Today we’re here to have fun and raise some money.” While admission was free, attendees could offer donations for the game, as well as for food and a “bouncy castle” for children. The money will go to the Copperas Cove Independent School District’s Police Explorers program, which allows teens interested in a career in law enforcement to get training and volunteer in their community.  www.fundraising-ideas.org
