Olympian Lends a Hand to Fellow Local Lauren HIll's Fundraising Efforts

Lawrenceburg, IN -- As we approach the end of Lauren Hill's fundraising push, a fellow Lawrenceburg star athlete is helping her to reach her goal. Olympian Nick Goepper is stepping up in the best way he knows how: on the slopes. Goepper hosted a rail jam competition Friday night at Perfect North Slopes. There was a $10 entry fee and Perfect North then doubled that total for The Cure Starts Now in Lauren Hill’s name. About 130 people participated and they raised $3,000 for DIPG research. So far Lauren Hill has raised more than $750,000 for the cause. Her goal is to reach the $1 million mark by the end of the year.  www.fundraising-ideas.org

Fundraiser to Send Bullied Kids to Challenge Day

Jackson, MI – Bullying, teasing, isolation – these events often happen to middle school children in the Jackson area.  In an effort to combat this, the Martin Luther King Diversity Committee designed the "Middle School Challenge" Fundraiser to empower students and create a culture of kindness at area schools. The program draws on a one-day experiential workshop called "Challenge Day."  To help pay for students to attend the annual Challenge Day in November, the MLK Diversity Committee will host their 13th annual MLK breakfast on Friday  at Gene Davis & Sons.  Tickets to the breakfast are $25 per person.  www.fundraising-ideas.org

Musical Fundraiser Success for My Brother's Table

Marblehead , MA -   Founded in 1982, My Brother’s Table, the largest soup kitchen on the North Shore, has provided over 2.9 million hot, free meals and outreach to men, women and children in need, and just days before Christmas it received a generous gift from Marbleheaders.  Though the air was frigid on the Saturday before Christmas, the seasonal sounds created by Marblehead’s Dr. Tim Curtin and his fellow music makers received a very warm reception from local residents. For Curtin and his fellow musicians, these fundraising performances have become an almost yearly Atlantic Avenue event.  www.fundraising-ideas.org

Funny Photo Fundraising Event

Longstanton, England -A creative fundraiser from Longstanton has come up with a novel way to raise money for a Cambridge hospice by spearheading a 'Christmas Gurn Off' campaign.(“Gurning” means making a distorted face.)  The idea, which Kelly Molson is hoping will prove a big success, is to pull a funny face while adorned with Christmas decorations – preferably a festive wreath – before making a charitable donation.  Kelly, managing director of design agency Rubber Cheese, explained her business partner Paul Wright came up with the idea as a way for her to raise money for Cambridge charity Arthur Rank.  www.fundraising-ideas.org
