Vacation Bible School Fundraiser

Pauls Valley, OK - Vacation Bible School as a concept has done a lot to find creative ways of introducing kids to the works of Jesus Christ. First United Methodist Church Pastor Mark Watson has made it a goal to use at least part of VBS to emulate acts of kindness. During their Weird Animals themed VBS they used money collected to bring water to students in India. “What we’ve done the past three years is pick out a mission project for the kids to do,” said Watson. “Last year we did a county fair project for Heifer International. They helped bring $1,000 worth of livestock to families in third world countries.  It gives them something to do other than just come to Vacation Bible School.”  www.fundraising-ideas.org

Tasty Fundraiser Set to a Retro Theme This Year

Timmins, ON-The Timmins Canadian Cancer Society is giving women a chance to enjoy a guilt-free night of delicious desserts, all in the name of fundraising for a good cause.  The 11th-annual Grand Dessert Night is being held at the Timmins Inn & Suites. This year, the ladies-only event features a retro theme. “We want to spice it up, have some fun so we’re encouraging anybody and everybody to dress up from their favorite era, anywhere from the 1920s to the ’90s. First step is you purchase a table, so you as the chef, cook or preparer of the food can invite whoever you want to come to your table and prepare any sort of treats, whatever your specialty happens to be, hopefully within a retro theme, whether it’s cupcakes, cake, any sort of baked items.”www.fundraising-ideas.org

Fun Fencing Event a Fundraiser for Charity in Kenya

Bognor Regis, West Sussex, UK - Inspired by the work of the Kitendo Children’s Charity in Kenya, Tom Rusbridge of Chichester Fencing Club organized a fantastic day’s fencing to raise funds for the KCC slum project.  The day began with men’s and women’s events being intensely fought. After the main event came a highly-unusual cross-dressing plate competition. A huge number of fencers competed in this event solely to raise funds and have fun. Women fenced in moustaches and padded beer bellies and men donned the traditional women’s chest protectors and wigs.  It was a fantastic day of sport and raised more than £700 for the KCC Slum Project. The money will go to schooling, feeding and clothing young people who have little to call their own.  www.fundraising-ideas.org
