Balloon Release Fundraiser to Purchase Smoke Detectors

Lloyd, KY -  Tears filled Sabrina Archey’s eyes when hundreds of pink, white and black balloons jumped into the sky over Greysbranch Elementary School at a fundraiser on Friday.  Every child and every teacher at Greysbranch, along with local firefighters and other well-wishers, turned out on the windy playground to release balloons in memory of Archey’s daughter Jensyn, and her mother, Wilma Osborn, both of whom were killed Feb. 26 in a fire that ripped through their home in Load.  The balloon release was coordinated with a fundraising campaign that will buy smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors to place in local homes — the hope being that future fires can be prevented.  www.fundraising-ideas.org
