Cranbrook, B.C. (Canada) - Last
month, members of the Cranbrook/Kimberley RCMP, together
with community members, laced up and hit the streets in a
fundraiser for the Special Olympics athletes, by
participating in the 3rd Annual Law Enforcement Torch Run.
There were 61 participants who ran, walked or cycled the
three or five kilometer route. The
fundraising run was followed by a barbecue and fun
softball game between the local Special Olympics softball
team and members of the Cranbrook RCMP. Since 1990, the
Law Enforcement Torch Run in B.C. has raised more than $3
million to support Special Olympics athletes and programs,
helping Special Olympics B.C. grow to support 4,100
athletes in 55 communities in B.C.
