Mechanicsburg, PA
– Last year, the coordinators of the annual Pigout Pig Roast Fundraiser,
benefiting the Rich Lichtel Memorial Fund, decided to add a chili cook-off to
inspire a greater turnout. This year they introduced another new feature—a
homebrew festival that brought out more than 100 visitors. The event first began seven years ago in a
backyard as a small family-style barbecue. But as word of Rich Lichtel’s life
and memorial fund — which raises funds for local youth sports — caught on, the
barbecues grew so large that they could no longer be held in a backyard. It
eventually moved to Dylan Gallucci’s, who also coordinates the event and acts
as vice president of the memorial fund. www.fundraising-ideas.org
