— Saturday was a hot one in Fox Park, but for those accustomed to the heat of
flames it wasn't anything some good food, cold drink and rocking music and
fundraising couldn't overcome. For 86
years the firefighters of La Porte have been giving back to the city not only
by risking themselves in the line of duty, but by hosting fundraising events in
order to help La Porte beyond fire fighting — by giving to local charities and
the people they support. The La Porte Firefighters Rock the Park is back, amps kicking up
the dirt of Fox Park as band after band took to the park's auditorium to
provide entertainment. All proceeds went to local charities supported by the
