Damascus, VA
— A local foundation has published a fundraising cookbook to benefit the
research of rare cancers, a disease that took the life of Damascus resident
Penny French Garrett in 2014.“She was the
sweetest, kindest person. She was always smiling and happy,” said Trilla
DeFriece-Puckett, a former teacher of Garrett who, along with Garrett’s mother,
Darlene French, created “Creeper Trail Ride to End Cancer Cookbook.”“There is little doubt we will meet our goal
of raising $2,500 because we’ve already sold hundreds of the cookbook,” said
DeFriece-Puckett. www.fundraising-ideas.org
