Country Fresh Tent Sale Fundraising Event

Cypress Ridge, TX - After last year’s success, Country Fresh Inc., a local produce company, is sponsoring its second annual Produce Tent Sale benefiting the Cy-Ridge Marching Band and Creative Outreach New Life Women’s Center.  The annual fundraising event offering fresh produce at low prices takes place to help raise funds for instruments, uniforms, trips, and other band expenses.  The fundraiser also benefits New Life Women’s Center located in Montgomery. The non-profit helps women dealing with a variety of different issues from eating disorders to substance abuse by using biblical principles and practical knowledge to offer daily life skills classes, counseling, GED and work training to women 17 and older. One hundred percent of all funds raised will be donated to support the two fundraising efforts.  www.fundraising-ideas.org

Librarian Gets Creative With Fundraising Idea

Aurora, IL — East Aurora’s Cowherd Middle School librarian Jacquelyn Tupa knew she’d have to get creative with fundraising since new regulations barred her from selling “unhealthy” snacks, which last year alone raised over $5,000 for the library.  So recently, she sent an email to Cowherd staff asking if anyone would be willing to do something crazy as a reward if enough students participated in a reading contest and fundraiser. She asked: Would any staffers be willing to dye their hair or shave their heads? Soon, Tupa had nine teachers — including herself — who were willing to dye their hair if the school could raise $1,000 for the library. If funds reached $2,000, a guidance counselor volunteered to shave her head and an English teacher volunteered to get a Cowherd tattoo on the back of his head.  www.fundraising-ideas.org

Fundraiser Uses "Downton Abbey" as Inspiration

Racine, WI — Lady Mary of “Downton Abbey” would be proud. Well, maybe more so her mom or sisters. A fundraiser held Sunday in Racine for a remote health clinic in Tanzania in East Africa could not have provided more of a contrast. Guests and wait staff at the Tea for Tumaini event at the Racine Masonic Center sported costumes straight out of “Downton Abbey,” the highly successful PBS drama that centers on life at an early-20th-century British estate. They sipped tea (Tanzania, of course) in fine china and enjoyed punch and finger sandwiches served by local teens dressed as “downstairs” help.  It was a creative and fun way to bring in some money for the Mount Tumaini Health Clinic, a local project launched in 2002 by the ministry staff at Racine’s Atonement Lutheran Church and local supporters.  www.fundraising-ideas.org
