Nottinghamshire , UK
- Fundraising events will take place across Nottinghamshire to pay for surgery
which could help a child walk for the first time.Three-year-old Theo Hunt suffers from spastic
diplegia [a type of cerebral palsy]. He was due to have selective dorsal
rhizotomy surgery at Queen’s Medical Centre in February, which could have given
him the ability to walk.However,
funding for the £45,000 operation was pulled by NHS England as Theo was missing
one of the tests required for the selective surgery, despite a number of other
families getting the go-ahead.Theo’s
mum, Melissa Hunt, pledged to raise the money herself for the operation after
the heartbreaking decision and is even considering taking Theo to America for
treatment. www.fundraising-ideas.org
