— A fundraising event in Michigan plans to pit participants with big appetites
against 20-foot-long bratwursts that weigh close to six pounds. The Wurst Challenge to benefit the FLY
Children's Art Center is scheduled for Thursday evening. The event is hosted by
Ypsilanti's Wurst Bar, the New Holland Brewing Co., blogger Mark Maynard and
others. It's a fundraiser for nonprofit FLY's Creativity Lab in Ypsilanti. The Ann Arbor News reported earlier this
month that the bar will donate 10 cents an inch for the sausage consumed.
Participants also are raising money separately. Awards will be given to the
