South Middleton Township, PA — Todd Eppley was ready to smile as he had his mug shot
taken upon being transported to a makeshift prison, arraigned by a judge, and
asked to call friends and neighbors for bail money. That’s because the jail wasn’t real, and the
bail money was for a fundraiser benefiting the Muscular Dystrophy Association
during a voluntary Lock-Up Wednesday at the Red Robin Gourmet Burgers
restaurant off of Trindle Road in South Middleton Township. The about 120 volunteers were picked up
throughout the day Wednesday in a luxury “paddy wagon” limousine or van and
taken to the Red Robin, where they had their mug shots taken behind jail bars
and were served gourmet “bread and water” from Red Robin, Starbucks, Papa Johns
and Chick-Fil-A, said Ariel Jones, fundraising coordinator for the Harrisburg
District of the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Participants who couldn’t get
out of their offices were also able to raise funds under “house arrest,” Jones
said. www.fundraising-ideas.org
