Santa Cruz, CA --
A program to help incarcerated women turn their lives around will celebrate its
10-year anniversary on Friday with a fundraising event at First Congregational
Church.
Gemma, a program of the
Community Action Board of Santa Cruz County Inc., helps highly motivated women
learn skills to reunite with their families obtain jobs, step out of
homelessness and become productive people. The group's seventh annual fall
fundraiser will raise money to help its clients. There will be hors d'oeuvres, a
buffet dinner, silent auction, live jazz from the group Skylark and acapella
singing from UC Santa Cruz's HiTones. Guests also will hear testimonials from
Gemma women and men from the similar Rise program.
