Yorkshire,
England - A glitzy fundraising evening was saved at the 11th hour after
a flood left its venue looking like a “bomb site”. Staff at the
Overgate Hospice designer shop in Brighouse arrived yesterday morning to
find a burst water pipe had caused the ceiling to collapse and left
six-inch-deep water on the ground floor. The shop was due to play host
to Overgate’s Glam and Glitz Fundraiser that
evening. Fortunately, a savior came forward in the shape of Brighouse
business Prego Restaurant – and the event went ahead at the Huddersfield
Road venue. A spokesman for Overgate said: “They tried to rescue
whatever stock that they could within the timescale before they were
told to get out. Thankfully, all the Glamour stock for the fundraising
event was totally undamaged and the staff managed to rescue it.” www.fundraising-ideas.org
