White County., IN
– A fundraiser in Monticello Saturday night helped make sure veterans have the
chance to visit our nation’s capital. The
Tip A Soldier event took place at the Oakdale Dam Inn, with the soldiers acting
as servers and working for tips. The
event raised money to help fund Lafayette’s Honor Flight Program. The Honor Flight Program began back in 2012.
Since then, six flights and a total of 480 veterans have made the trip to
Washington, D.C.Co-president Pam Mow
said this is just one of many fundraising events they hold throughout the year.“It costs us $65,000 a flight and, like I
said, we have three flights this year,” said Mow. “So, it’s quite an
undertaking to raise all of that money. So, we’re always in fundraising mode.” www.fundraising-ideas.org
