Grand Island, NE— Supporters of Hope Harbor helped turn
up the heat in support for the nonprofit devoted to improving the lives of
Grand Island’s homeless and near homeless population Saturday night.Hope Harbor held its third annual Serving Up Hope
fundraising event, with local chefs competing in the “Battle Chili Pepper.”
Organizers said about 470 people were expected to turn out for the event.Four area chefs competed for the title of
“Chili Pepper Champion” by serving “mild to wild” appetizers, with chili
peppers as the common ingredient. Attendees were able to sample the creations
of the local culinary experts while raising awareness and funds for the
