Christmas in July Fundraising Event for Meals on Wheels

Alameda, CA -- Alameda Meals on Wheels is set to host its 20th annual Christmas in July fundraising event at Rock Wall Wine Co.  The group's supporters urge community members to attend. Donations collected at the event make a difference year-round, especially during the holidays, they say.   Volunteers with Alameda Meals on Wheels deliver hot meals to more than 140 needy residents on a sliding-fee scale each day, which adds up to more than 50,000 meals a year. About half of those served by the program are elderly residents, who also benefit from the group's Friendly Visitors service.  www.fundraising-ideas.org
