– Burl Stoner believes in service to his community. So after he was diagnosed with diabetes and
his wife also contracted the disease, he decided to do something to advance the
cause of research. He contacted the
American Diabetes Association and arranged for the Decatur Frontiers Service
Club to begin holding annual community walks fundraisers. In its fifth year, about 25 walkers attended
the fundraising event at Fairview Park Saturday, on a cool autumn morning.
About 50 more participated as “virtual walkers,” who donated to the cause
