Brunswick, GA - When
the Matthew’s Angels fundraising event began Sunday on Sea Island’s Rainbow
Island, nearly $30,000 had been raised in ticket sales alone to aid local
Hurricane Matthew victims. Then came the
$10,000 donation from the tax firm RSM, sponsor of the upcoming RSM Classic PGA
tournament, a matching check from the tournament’s host, PGA Tour pro Davis
Love III and a matching donation from Tito’s Handmade Vodka. With the donations already at roughly $60,000
just over an hour into the event, the live auction started and more money
poured in for United Way of Coastal Georgia to give to the local Salvation Army
and American Red Cross chapters. By the end of it
all, roughly $100,000 was raised during the event, all of which will go to the
local charities to help local victims of the storm. The final amount is still
being tallied. www.fundraising-ideas.org
