Copperas Cove, TX - After working side by side to protect the city’s
residents, members of Copperas Cove’s police and fire departments met Sunday
afternoon to compete in a spirit of friendly competition.
Officers from both departments, as well as
members of their families, participated in a charity soccer match. The match
took place on fields near Copperas Cove High School, and were free to members
of the public. “Both departments work with each other every day,” said Copperas
Cove Police Officer William Hughes. “Today we’re here to have fun and raise
some money.” While admission was free, attendees could offer donations for the
game, as well as for food and a “bouncy castle” for children. The money will go
to the Copperas Cove Independent School District’s Police Explorers program,
which allows teens interested in a career in law enforcement to get training
and volunteer in their community.
