Taste of St. Celestine Fundraising Event

Elmwood Park, IL - Last year’s Taste of St. Celestine was without fried dough, a popular favorite, but it’s coming back this year as part of the Elmwood Park parish’s annual fundraising event.  Laura DePillo, assistant business manager for St. Celestine Parish, makes the homemade fried dough and was sick last year and couldn’t make it. This year she’s looking forward to being a part of it and making her fried dough. “It has become a pretty big hit here,” she said.  Her booth will be one of 10 selling ethnically diverse food made by church parishioners at the event, which takes place from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sept. 6 in the church’s parking lot and the church’s school gymnasium.  www.fundraising-ideas.org

"She had a heart condition called atrioventricular heart canal defect," Jessica DePoy, Luna's mom, said. "Where her heart didn’t form normally and it didn’t have separate chambers so all of her blood mixed together.  Luna had surgery in July to help fix her heart defect. But with a serious illness also comes big bills, lots of doctors’ appointments and time off from work”…and so the fundraising event was born.  www.fundraising-ideas.org
