Arcata, CA - Northcoast
Children’s Services’ “Pastels on the Plaza” has been filling Arcata’s city
center with colorfully original artwork on the first Saturday of October for
the past three decades. This creative
fundraiser has also been helping to support the local nonprofit organization,
which serves low-income pregnant women and families with children from birth
through kindergarten age. Here’s how Pastels works: Businesses, organizations,
schools and other groups “buy” a square of cement on the Arcata Plaza for $125
or $225 and artists — both experienced and new — sign up to participate.
Artists are matched with a sponsor and, on the morning of the event, they go to
work creating a temporary sidewalk gallery of art for all to see. www.fundraising-ideas.org

Mom's Night Out Painting Fundraiser for Lakeshore General Hospital
Montreal, QC - School
is back in session, activities are in full swing, and the homework has started
streaming in. Precisely why parents need to get out every once in a while and
have a good time. Tina Wentzell,
owner of the blog West Island Mommies, was speaking with some fellow moms
recently when she realized that moms often want or need a night out. She
thought “what better thing to do than a Paint Night with an amazing local
company such as West Island Arts Centre.
“It’s a fun night out with moms, (a chance to) meet new moms and
fundraise for our local hospital (the Lakeshore General Hospital),” Wentzell
added. www.fundraising-ideas.org

Annual Bennett Fall Birding Classic Fundraiser
Charlottetown, PEI - The annual Bennett Fall Birding Classic fundraiser will take place Saturday. Each autumn for the past 22 years, Island Nature Trust and Nature P.E.I. have joined forces in a team event, featuring groups with three- to seven-member teams heading out in the wee hours of the morning to find as many species of birds as possible in one 24-hour period. This fun marathon count is an opportunity to get involved in bird watching or birding at any level. Strict rules are followed to avoid interfering with bird behavior or causing harm. Teams will collect pledges based on the number of species they find. All funds raised go to Island Nature Trust’s land acquisition and stewardship work. www.fundraising-ideas.org
