Fundraising Event Featuring Old Pros Orchestra and Swing Dancing

Roanoke, VA - Music blared, bodies swayed, toes tapped and young and old danced at Historic Smithfield Plantation’s pavilion on a balmy Sunday afternoon in September. For the second year in a row, Smithfield partnered with Montgomery Museum for a joint fundraiser featuring the Old Pros Orchestra.  A crowd of about 100 enjoyed wine and cheese fare as they listened and danced to popular big-band sounds of Glenn Miller, Tom Dorsey and others, some of whom performed in person at Virginia Tech German Club dances in the 1940s. Vintage Cellar was on hand to pour the wine, and food donations were provided by Steve Huppert, Karen Finch and Kathryn Van Tassel.  www.fundraising-ideas.org
