Newark, NJ — The Works was so crowded Saturday night that the doors
were propped open to let cool air in — a welcome change from the frigid
temperatures of late. Saturday marked the ninth annual Cocktails by the Fire
fundraiser. The event, which features drinks, food, art, music and local wares,
raises money for The Works’ glassblowing studio. The theme this year was “The
Green Revolution” and focused on sustainable, local living. There was a gallery
of recycled art and local retailers selling eco-friendly goods — furniture made
of recycled pallets, for example, and vintage, “already enjoyed” jewelry, said
Samantha Harris, The Works marketing director. www.fundraisingweb.org
