–The Florence Area Literacy Council is absolutely not inviting you to their
fundraising event that definitely isn’t a gala. In what they’re calling the
“biggest un-happening, non-event of the year,” the council invites the public
to help them reach their $5,000 goal by month’s end. The council asks everyone to join them for a
“Stay Home and Read unGala” event on any day this month, anytime of day at any
location that makes you happy. Your most comfortable attire is required. Executive Director of the Florence Area
Literacy Council Christina Lawson said contributing is extremely beneficial to
the community because every dollar goes toward educating illiterate adults in
