Rothwell, UK - Generous pigeon fanciers have once again flocked to a special
fundraising event – collecting more than £500.
Held in Rothwell, the annual event was first organized by Kevin and
Tracy Robbins, after their grandson Jordan Robbins was born with gastroschisis
– a birth defect of the abdominal wall that causes the baby's intestines to
poke outside the body, through a hole beside the belly button . Jordan, now 10,
was treated successfully at Leeds General Infirmary Baby Care Unit. And, ever since, Tracy and Kevin have
organised an annual fundraising pigeon race following a popular sale in
Rothwell Village Hall, collecting a total of £539 this year alone. Around 60 people took part in the race, which
was won by Steve Smith. www.fundraising-ideas.org
