"Got Grit" Fundraiser for Local Principal

Grandville, MI -- The Grandville community does not shy away from a fight.  Nearly 2,800 people, many wearing "Got Grit" T-shirts, filled Grandville High School’s gym for a cheerleading invitational on Wednesday, Feb. 5, that became a cancer awareness and fundraising event for the school’s principal, Chris VanderSlice.  VanderSlice, 37, is being treated for leukemia.  The VanderSlice family will receive about $17,400 through Ivanrest Church from various fundraising events, including T-shirt and bracelet sales, raffles, a silent auction, coin collections at schools and donations from a local restaurant.  The district raised nearly $11,000 from pre-ordered T-shirt sales designed by Mike Leiter, one of the high school assistant principal’s and VanderSlice’s close friend.  www.fundraising-ideas.org
