Avon, OH - More
than 300 people braved snow and sub-zero temperatures to support The Friendship
Animal Protective League at its Sixth annual Wags To Riches dinner Saturday
night. Make that 300 people, six dogs and four cats. The annual fundraiser has become a key source
of income for the Elyria Township shelter, drawing supporters from all over
Northeast Ohio to pay $80 a ticket for the dinner. Other fundraising events,
including bidding for feline and canine gift baskets, were also featured. The event at Tom's Country House in Avon
raised thousands of dollars which will be used to help the animals. To help raise money, and show people where
their money was going, shelter executive director Greg Willey brought recently rescued
dogs and cats to mingle with the guests. Several of the dogs did such a good
job making friends that they were adopted on the spot. www.fundraising-ideas.org
