Fundraising Event Has Grown, Now Supports Free Mammograms

St. Simons Island, GA - Passion has a way of changing things. St. Simons Island resident Carol Sabo knows that as well as anybody.  About 10 years ago, she started the process of turning a casual golf outing that raised a few twenty dollar bills for breast cancer research into a massive fundraiser.  Much of the money raised locally comes right back to the area, Sabo explained. The Susan G. Komen foundation regularly provides grants to Southeast Georgia Health System’s Mammograms in Motion program, which provides breast cancer screenings to rural and underserved areas. The program serves uninsured and low-income residents of Camden, Glynn, Long and McIntosh counties.  www.fundraising-ideas.org
