Historical Society Recreates 1910 Aurora for Fundraising Event

Aurora, IL - The Aurora Historical Society recreated the working-class culture of 1910 with its Friday night fundraiser, "When The Factory Whistle Blows."  The sold-out event centered around a fictional saloon at 24 N. Broadway and included a visit from temperance crusader Carrie Nation, who famously believed that alcohol and cigars led to the downfall of families — and was known to take a hatchet into saloons and destroy illegal barrooms.  www.fundraising-ideas.org
