Gingerbread Houses Make for Fundraising Event for Habitat for Humanity

North Tonawanda, NY — As a North Tonawanda High School freshman, Luke Topolski wanted to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, but when he was told he was too young to actually help build a house, he decided to find his own way to contribute.   Topolski started an annual fundraising event that has taken place every year since its inception in 2009. The event involves building 200 gingerbread houses which are then brought to Crazy Jake’s restaurant during North Tonawanda’s annual Winter Walk event. For $5 children are able to purchase a house and decorations to create their own gingerbread house, an ode to the real houses built by Habitat for Humanity.   www.fundraising-ideas.org
