Philadelphia, PA - The
cancer charity that began with a child's lemonade stand in West Hartford has
hit a major fundraising milestone of $100 million. Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation is named for
Alex Scott, who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma just before her first
birthday. At age 4, she began a lemonade stand to raise money for children's
cancer research. Alex died in 2004 at the
age of 8, having raised more than $1 million.
Alex's parents, Jay and Liz Scott, have carried on her legacy and grown
the small foundation into a fundraising powerhouse. The foundation's ninth annual Lemon Ball gala
in Philadelphia pulled in over $1 million, the highest single-day fundraising
total in the charity's history, Jay Scott said. www.fun draising-ideas.org
