Students Fundraise to Fill Backpacks for Homeless

Gambrills, MD - For the last nine years, the School of the Incarnation in Gambrills has participated in Giving Back, Linda's Legacy, a fundraising project that provides backpacks filled with essentials for homeless individuals.  This year, more than $20,000 was raised to fill more than 800 backpacks.   Each child is asked to consider a $25 backpack pledge and are encouraged to find ways to earn the money so that the contribution really feels like his or her own. To raise the funds, students raked leaves, baby sat, cleaned out garages, changed diapers, and cleaned horse stalls, just to name a few of the jobs undertaken. "Many of our children and their families not only donate money, but they go to the streets to spend their Christmas Eve with the homeless," Pajerowski said.  www.fundraising-ideas.org
